Wadsworth, IL (February 17, 2026) – Emergency rescue units and multiple ambulances responded to a serious collision involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck early Tuesday morning, February 17, at the intersection of Illinois Route 173 and North Hunt Club Road.
Upon arrival, first responders found that both vehicles sustained significant damage. Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance to several individuals injured in the crash.
Due to the nature of the injuries and the involvement of a commercial vehicle, multiple medical units were required to stabilize and treat the patients. Their current condition is unknown.
The local sheriff’s office is currently investigating the cause of the collision.
We hope everyone affected by this accident makes a full recovery.
What should I know if a semi-truck hits me in Illinois?
If a semi truck hits you, you can still get help even if you were partly at fault, as long as you weren't the main cause of the crash. Because trucks are much larger than cars, the injuries and insurance rules are much more serious than in a typical fender-bender.
In Illinois, if an accident isn't 100% one person's fault, the law uses a "sliding scale" to figure out compensation. As long as you were 50% or less responsible, you can still collect money for your medical bills and car repairs.
A fully loaded semi can weigh 20 times more than a regular car. Because of that massive weight difference, even a "low speed" bump can cause hidden injuries like concussions, internal bruising, or whiplash that don't hurt until the next day. This is why it is so important to see a doctor immediately, even if you feel "fine" at the scene. Having a medical record from the day of the crash makes it much harder for an insurance company to say your injuries happened later or weren't that bad.
Additionally, unlike a regular driver, a truck driver has a big company and a team of experts standing behind them. They often have investigators on the scene within hours to find ways to lower the amount they have to pay.
You don't have to handle them alone. Getting a legal team on your side who knows how to look at the truck’s "black box" data and GPS records can help prove what really happened. This levels the playing field so you can focus on getting better while someone else handles the paperwork and phone calls.
